FWOOOSH

Living in one of the epicenters of gas drilling i was pretty blown away by this video of a guy setting his tap water on fire. You should also be.

CAN YOU DO THIS WITH YOUR TAP WATER? from JOSHFOX on Vimeo.

This video was up on the Consumerist last week. Well oddly enough today in the latest edition of our local alternative newsmag they had an article about the ills of gas drilling. Then i see the video again on my feed reader today when Apartment Therapy blogs about it.

The story in the FW Weekly was shocking. There is a lot of stuff not being mentioned with all this drilling. Stuff about catastrophic accidents every 6 months, corroding pipes, awful infrastructure and horrific eminent domain stuff. I suggest you go read that article here.

"What do you think I fought for in Omaha Beach?" says the 86 year old Republican at a meeting about Maine's Marriage Equality Bill.

If you watch this and still don't believe in equal rights for marriage you are a jerk.

GHOSTS OF COMICS PASTS

I keep forgetting to post about this... but Rags Morales (artist on the mostly meh Identity Crisis) is working on some kinda Noir style book for DC. The released preview art is enough to sell me on whatever it is...

DOOM HOTEL

image via Yeowatzup on Flickr

So this "hotel" which has been in process for 20 years in the N. Korean capital has finally resumed work. It is a colossal failure and makes pretty much every worst building ever list. Now, much like the rest of the city, they are cleaning up the facade but aren't keen to give firm details about it being useful. They do say the rotating restaurant will function come 2010. Go read the BBC article for more info.

Why didn't i ever work somewhere like the Hotel of Doom?? Think of how little customer service must be involved in that job. Don't like the beds? Too bad. The Great Leader chose them. It is that or forced labor camps.

God bless you North Korea and your "antics". Speaking of... read Guy Delisle's fantastic graphic novel about living there for a bit.

YELLOW CAKE

Fantastic animation in this video about the curse of Yellow Cake. This has everything a good liberal wants... geopolitics, socialism, bullying, pretty cartoons! Just watch and see.

#^)

Just uploaded some photos I took at the U2 concert on Monday. Waiting on the 120 film i shot to be developed. The concert was good, and no complaints with the luxury box my work procured.

JESUS WALKIN ON THE WATER

one picture... two versions of captions.

version 1: original
version 2: revised for reality

Because remember... it isn't good art if you don't have to explain it in detail and hand hold your audience.

DOMO

A Japanese TV station mascot has further infiltrated another corporate marketing effort. I have to admit I almost stopped at 7-11 this morning for a cup of Domo coffee...'

You can say what you want about the French... but in the end they'll be remembered for stuff like this:

Look at that steering wheel design... amazing. The whole aesthetic of this thing is so unbelievably French. Fantastic.

A REMINDER

WASHOUT

It is still really surreal seeing a felled tree just chilling in your backyard. The tree looked especially cool this morning lit up by my headlights in the pre-dawn. I should try to get long exposure photo of it. Have to admit I kind of like it though, part of me wishes we could work it into the landscaping.

Anway it is Monday... and it is really grey outside. Here is some practice this morning followed by a link-dump.
